The 1st Global Taxonomy Initiative regional workshop will be held from September 10 to 14 in Malaysia. The LOOP Coordinating Committee (LCC) of EASIANET will have a LCC meeting during the workshop. More than ten people from east Asia region will attend the first LCC meeting of the EASIANET.

The 3rd Global Taxonomy Workshop was held successfully on 8th July,2002 in South Africa. Five delegates from EASIANET joined the workshop.

Dr. Hui Xiao (China) visited BioNET in Egham on 27th May,2002.

The Governments of China and Mongolia have formally endorsed the EASIANET proposal. Following one more national endorsement the Technical Cooperation Network will become operational in accordance with UNDP guidelines.

The East Asia LOOP Formulation Workshop, organised by the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, PR China, was successfully held in Beijing, PR China on 23-27 July 2001.
The Formulation Workshop unanimously elected Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences to be the EASIANET Network Coordinating Institute. Contact the proposed Coordinator, Professor Da-Wei Huang.
